Thrifting Tips

Image
Why I stopped buying trendy pieces.. If you have been here a while you probably already know that I have been thrifting my clothes for the past 2 years.  It has helped me find my own style and my own voice when it comes to the pieces I wear.  I am not saying I will never wear what is trendy, but I will def be looking for those trends second hand. Here are a few tips I use before heading to the thrift stores... Make a thrift wish list.    For the longest time I had on my list an oversized quilted jacket/coat and I just recently found one that was in prefect condition. I was so happy!! Also found a pair of Levi's ribcage flares I can't wait to wear them. Having a list helps you when choosing what to bring home. Have an open mind. Not every piece you find will be the exact match, but having an opened mind and a good tailor always helps.    Do not worry about sizing. If you don't already know, a vintage 8 it is not a modern 8 per say.  I buy whatever fits ...

Green for the Win

Image
Holiday Colors... I wore this outfit not even thinking that the green in the pants reminds me of Christmas.  These pants are really fun, specially the cut out detail in the front.  Paired with a vintage checkered blazer and buckle belt, was the perfect office outfit for this time of year. xo, Yaudy Cristina *Vintage blazer and Coach bag thrifted at Goodwill / Pants and boots Shein / Belt thrifted at Valley Thrift in Ohio*

Coats Out!

Image
Another Fall/Winter season is upon us! The weather has been beautiful, but let's face it Winter is around the corner.  Number one item on my to do list is to clean my coats and try to find my gloves.  I cannot be the only one who always looses those haha This coat is one of my favorite vintage finds to date. The color and collar are just beautiful! Happy almost weekend!  Yaudy Cristina * All pieces are thrifted or found in Etsy *

Covered In Leopard

Image
Is there anyone who doesn't like leopard print?  I don't think so LOL This outfit was a spare of the moment thought,  when I could not figure out what to wear and wanted to wear these pants so bad, but the top I was looking for was dirty type of moment. So, I decided to pile on all the leopard print I own and I am not one bit mad as how the look turned out. I have been so into this type of style pant. Super comfortable and wearable I want to wear them everyday.  These pants are a recent purchase, but everything else has been sitting in my closet forever. Hope you guys have an amazing weekend! 70's Vibes

Image
I have collected several vintage 70's blouses and by far this one is my favorite. I have worn it so many times from work, on the weekend, with pants. with shorts and skirts.  So many endless options with this timeless piece. My love for thrifting and finding vintage pieces have grown so much this past year.  I love to give life to older pieces.  I love to mix them with "now" trend like these pair of pink pants.  I added a chain belt and mules for a day at the office. I Am Ready For Spring

Image
Who else? It seems like Spring forgot NJ this time around LOL But I am ready and waiting patiently.  These pictures were taken last year and I am so upset that I waited this long to post them.  I love florals in any type of garment.  These pants have been in closet forever and I don't ever plan to get rid of them.  I have a few more outfits planned with them as the day to return to office is fast approaching. xo, Yaudy Cristina   Outfit Zara top / Francesca's pants /Versona shoes / Vintage Liz Claiborne bag ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Shop Similar

The Power Blazer

Image
Can you tell I love leather? Leather has a "cool thing" to it at least to me.  Back when I was younger I used to buy a lot of pleather as I have always love the look of a leather piece.  Now, I tend to invest in either vegan leather or vintage leather.   I have thrifted a couple of good pieces including a pair of black leather pants and shorts that I know I will treasure those pieces forever.  I am on the hunt for a good leather jacket, I recently found a gold colored one on Etsy, but haven't had a chance to get it cleaned yet.  You will see it soon! This blazer I got at Express the pants are a hand me down from my boyfriend's mom's closet and the shoes are converse.  I wanted to keep it casual and just added a white Men's Hanes t-shirt (those are the best in my opinion).  I have worn this blazer a handful of times but didn't take any pictures.  I have to do a better job at that if I want to call myself a part-time blogger ha! I added a coupl...

November

Image
I miss sandal weather already..... How is it November already?  The first half of the year went by so slow and now it seems to be flying by.  I am not mentally prepared for the holidays because I feel we were cheated of this year. I would still try to make the best of it and enjoy this time with the "new normal" in mind. Happy November! xo, Yaudy Cristina   What I am wearing Levi's denim jacket (thrifted) / Ludovika top / H&M pants / Forever 21 sandals --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shop Similar

Summer Time Sadness

Image
Hello September!!! My birthday month and a whole of bunch of other people I know LOL  Today we closed out Summer and I already feel sad.  I feel down because we were robbed, yes robbed.  Summer is my favorite season and this virus just took all the fun away.  I am not saying my Summer was uneventful, but all my international travel plans got canceled.  I tried to make the best of it by going to explore new places, new town and some beach days and that at least satisfied me. I gave the head scarf a try and I loved it! it made me feel like I belong in France in the 60's, I have no idea why it gave that vibe haha I have been behind posting on here that I can't remember where I wore this to, but it is definitely a style I will repeat again with jeans and a sweater. Give Me All The Comfortable Shorts

Image
When you find the most comfortable shorts.... This Summer and pretty much most of Spring I lived in lounge wear.  But it was a nice upgrade to find comfortable shorts to wear anytime I got a chance to get out of the house.  These pair from Mango have been in heavy rotation and I plan to wear them until the end of Summer.   When the "stay at home" orders were put in place, I swear my clothes knew lol Nobody really dresses up anymore, but for me it was a big disappointment.  I still have some clothes I didn't get to wear, but I am happy that orders were lifted and I got to go out and take my poor sad clothes for a spin. In The Jungle

Image
How is it August already?! I have been in a cleaning mode and so happy I have found so many old items that still fit.  Like this blouse for example.  I got this like 2 years ago and never worn it, I call it it my jungle shirt LOL I feel so much more organized and lighter after all the things I git rid of.   Why do we hang on to things and never even wear them?  Crazy thing, right? Happy August friends! xo, Yaudy Cristina   What I am wearing: Urban Outfitters shirt Thrifted skirt from Goodwill Target sandals Shop Similar

Tie Dye

Image
Tie dye anyone? I am obsessed with this dress and pretty much anything tie dye.  It brings me back to the 80's and also reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw lol  I don't know why we stopped wearing it, I am so glad is back and hopefully for a long time. I got this dress from St. Cole  a shop I discover on Instagram.  They have amazing stuff from dresses to hats to sets it is just amazing!  Be sure to check them out. Now on to trying to stay cool it will be another hot day. xo, Yaudy Cristina What I am wearing:  St. Cole dress Thrifted mules via GoodWill Shop Similar

The More You Know

Three Things that Covid19 quarantine has taught me. I have not have a lot of time to think about all that's happening,  thankful to God, I am still busy with work and when I am not busy doing that, I try to stay distracted as much as I can.  But these three things I learned early on, specially when the stay at home orders were put into place. One People will not make time for you.   This one hit me the hardest.  As busy as I was, I made time to check on pretty much everyone I know.  A text or call even a Facebook message.  Some did come back and reciprocate, but not everyone will act the same towards you.  I read this somewhere and it has been replaying in my head ever since "make time for people who make time for you, not people who only talk to you when they have time".  Specially now that all stay at home orders have been lifted. Two Your family is important. I knew this of course, but unfortunatel...
